Pailton Engineering has been recognised by Fortune-500 listed PACCAR as a 10 PPM standard supplier. PACCAR, which manufacturers DAF, Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks, grants this certification to its highest quality parts suppliers as a measure of excellence.
PACCAR’s achievement certification is awarded annually to suppliers that provide parts and components that achieve 10 PPM or better quality. To be recognised, a supplier must operate near to perfection, with ten or fewer defective parts for every million shipped to PACCAR.
Pailton Engineering designs and manufacturers steering systems for the commercial vehicle industry, bus & coach, and military vehicles. The Coventry-based manufacturer specialises in the custom creation of every part of a steering system, from the steering column assembly to bespoke bevel and mitre boxes.
Certification from PACCAR endorses Pailton Engineering as a recognised manufacture of steering systems. The achievement also adds the company to a list of highly acclaimed suppliers for PACCAR, which is displayed in PACCAR facilities.
Recognition from PACCAR is a welcome addition to Pailton Engineering’s existing certifications. The company holds the ISO/TS 16949 automotive quality management standard, as well as the BS OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety certification.
Pailton Engineering has also recently made the transition from the previous version of ISO 14001 to the new environmental standard, ISO 14001:2015. This standard, when compared to previous versions, places a greater emphasis on ensuring procedures and documentation span a product’s entire lifecycle.
“Efforts to maintain and achieve these standards is reflective of our ongoing commitment to quality,” explained Cy Wilkinson, managing director at Pailton Engineering. “Designing steering systems for specialist sectors, like commercial vehicles, requires the manufacture of products that exceed customer expectations.”
“Pailton Engineering has an active policy of continuous improvement to help us maintain this level of quality which we take very seriously. This ethos helps us to pursue and maintain an excellent reputation with our customers.”
“Throughout the world, DAF, Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks have earned a reputation from unsurpassed quality,” stated Debbie Poppas, vice president for quality at PACCAR in Pailton Engineering’s quality achievement. “Much of the credit for this success goes to PACCAR suppliers like Pailton Engineering, who meet or exceed PACCAR’s quality expectations.”
