Pailton Engineering was founded in 1969 in the City of Coventry which is situated in the heart of the Industrial Midlands and today occupies a modern 80,000 sq. ft. factory employing in excess of 150 people. Substantial investment has resulted in manufacturing facilities utilising the latest technology. Pailton Steering Systems Design, test and deliver world class steering systems, from the drivers hand to the road wheel, using state of the art CAD (Solid Works), purpose designed and built test facilities, and state of the art manufacturing capability. The company philosophy is that investment in people is as important as investment in new technology. To this end, we run Technical and Craft Apprenticeships within the company. This is supported by our own CNC Programme Training School with the innovation of bringing specialist skills to be a part of the workforce that makes Pailton Engineering a leader within the Steering Industry.

A brief history

1969 Foundation ( Subcon and Toolmaker )
1979 Second Tier Supplier of Steering Components
1982 Pailton design and develop their own range of universal joints and sliding shafts.
1983 Design and manufacture of rigid steering columns.
1985 Design and manufacture of adjustable steering columns for trucks.
1988 Adjustable steering columns for buses added.
1992 Pailton acquire the steering division of Automotive Products, adding ball joints, draglinks, tie-rods and anti-roll bars to the product list.
1993 Moved to new premises increasing floor area to 80,000 square feet.
1994 Design and manufacture of electric tilt column.
1995 Design and manufacture of 90º mitre box.
1996 Design and manufacture of air unclamp column.
1998 Design and manufacture of torque rods.
1999 Opening of Pailton, Inc.in Valparaiso, Indiana, USA and Pailton GmbH in Schluchtern, Germany.
2001 Acquisition of SLT the steering division of Sachsenring, resulting in manufacturing facility in Germany.
2002 Design and manufacture of drop arms for power steering boxes
2003 Pailton Inc. moves to new 10,000 square foot purpose-built premises.
2009 40 years anniversary,  expand with new building in UK
2010 Acquistion of APG ( gear technology )
2012 Established Pailton PVT Ltd in India
